Darren Aronofsky (Writer/Director)
Darren Aronofsky was born and raised in Brooklyn and is a product of the public school system. He went on to study live action and animation at Harvard University. His senior thesis film "Supermarket Sweep" won international awards and recognition and was a 1991 Student Academy Award National Finalist. In June 1994, Aronofsky received an M.F.A. in Directing from the American Film Institute. his first feature garnered him the Directing Award for Dramatic Competition at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival.
Aronofsky has studied filmmaking with director Stuart Rosenberg ("Cool Hand Luke," "The Pope of Greenwich Village"), producer Stuart Cornfeld ("The Fly," "The Elephant Man," "Kafka," "Mimic") and acclaimed Hungarian director Miklos Jancso ("Red and White").
